The Job's Tears plant (Coix lacryma-jobi) looks like tall, thick stemmed and broad bladed grass or perhaps a small corn stalk. It dies off in the winter and returns in the spring. Seeds will first appear when the plant is about a foot tall. They are on a stem that goes completely through the seed and produces a “flower” that resembles the head of a stalk of wheat.
